BJJ Basics: When you attempt to hip escape to recover your guard from bottom modified kesa gatame your partner might attempt to “hang on” to you a bit too much with their hands.  Specifically attempting to hold your shoulder so that you can’t move away to complete the hip escape.  This can often lead to a submission opportunity for you.  I hope you enjoy!
